Travel is both my profession and my passion. I love to travel and cruising has become my preferred vacation choice. With cruises, my vacation begins the moment I step onto the ship. My sons, ages 14, 19 and 24, all love cruising too. Greater than birthdays and holidays, it’s our most anticipated time of year. Whether young or mature, cruises offer a variety of activities and unique experiences for every age. Cruising is a great way to unplug, to be liberated from the vise grip of social media. Of course you can pay for internet and ship-to-shore phone access, but these come with a hefty price tag. I enjoy spending time with my children and engaging in eye-to-eye conversations with them minus the constant checking of their cell phones and the annoying tweet notifications. Our getaways are centered on family time, our time to regroup and catch up, our time to see new places and try new things – together. Although I’ve sailed other cruise lines, Disney Cruise Line is my favorite. It offers a wholesome environment, making it safe for children and adults. Some may have the misconception that Disney Cruise Line is just for kids but that couldn’t be further from the truth. There are enrichment activities for adults such as wine tasting and pairings, fitness classes and seminars, cooking demonstrations and live adult-only entertainment.
One of the things I love most about Disney cruises is the magic that transcends from the world-renowned Disney parks onto the ship. You can play, you can dance, you can dress up, you can be super silly if you want to and no one will bat an eye. Bingo is by far one of our favorite family game experiences on the ship. It’s lively, it’s fun, it’s intense and there’s always more than one winner. On our last cruise, my youngest son won $253.00! He was ecstatic, as you can imagine. It’s not often that the youngest gets to beat out his older siblings! This is a memory he will cherish for years to come. He even got to take a picture with NBA superstar Dwight Howard! – who happened to be traveling onboard with his family. Of all the cruise lines available, I hardly question why he chose Disney. Disney just does it better.
The Disney crew members are second to none. They all share the same Disney spirit and commitment to service. I truly believe they love their job or they wouldn’t do it. It takes a special kind of person to work on a cruise ship. It’s a lot of work attending to so many people and dealing with so many different personalities. The constant cleaning and upkeep is enough to break the average man’s back. From the stateroom hosts to the dining room servers, from the entertainment staff to the spa technicians, the sincerity in their service is apparent across the board. Some may suggest that they’re “just being nice for tips”. Whether this is the case for some or not, they’re worth their weight in gold – and more.
As a former workaholic and homebody, I encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and travel more. There is so much more to see and experience than the square footage around us. Traveling truly enriches lives and you will enjoy remarkable adventures along the way. Cruises in particular allow you the ability to visit multiple destinations all during one itinerary so if you haven’t travelled much, this is a great way to get started and catch up! I’ve met some fantastic individuals during my travels and developed lasting friendships with many of them. If you decide to cruise Disney, and I pray that you do, I hope you get the chance to meet Always-Ready-To-Serve-You Ritesh, a wonderful family man and dedicated server, and Jolly Julie who delights in the joy of children’s laughter and catering to their every whim. These were our first dining hosts on the Disney Magic. Then there’s Luxury-Aficionado Lubo, who can tell you anything you ever wanted to know about selecting fine china and will recommend the most succulent dishes to pamper your palate! Entertaining Anthony will dazzle you with profound magic tricks and flatter you with his delicate napkin floral creations. They are both on the Disney Fantasy. And finally, Service-With-A-Smile Sam on the Disney Dream, the record holding paper plane engineer and former professional soccer player. Saying goodbye to Sam was a tearful moment for all of us – this is the impact Disney Cruise Line has on its guests.
So they don’t have the largest fleet at sea and they don’t have robotic bartenders but what they do have can not be manufactured. What they do have is magical. What they do have is priceless and always leaves you wanting more. We’re always looking forward to our next Disney cruise and all of the new wonders we will see, adventures we will take and connections we will make!
If you haven’t already, give Disney Cruise Line a try! If you’d rather stay on land, I can help with that too! I hope you’ll book your next escape with me today!
I look forward to sharing my most valuable travel tips with you!
